The diffusion of Mg impurity was investigated by using secondary ion mass spectroscopy. The temperature dependence of the Mg diffusivity, at 870 to 1073K, could described by,
D (cm2/s) = 2.8 x 10-3 exp[-1.5/T]
By combining data on the self-diffusion of cations, with the results of ionic conductivity measurements, an estimate was made of the thermodynamic parameters which characterized the jump of a diffusant. Calculated frequencies of the impurity ion jump to the cation vacancy were obtained.
