Mixed metal fluorides, SnF2-PbF2 and 2SnF2-NH4F, were prepared by mechanical milling and were studied by using 19F nuclear magnetic resonance methods. A motional narrowing which was observed in the variation of the 19F nuclear magnetic resonance line-width as a function of temperature, for both the systems, implied the occurrence of F- ion diffusion. The variations of various ion-transport parameters, such as jump frequency, diffusion coefficient and conductivity changes with temperature, as calculated from the nuclear magnetic resonance results, were found to be closely related to experimentally measured conductivity results.
