Measurements were made of solute diffusivities in these systems under micro-gravity conditions. A detailed analysis was also made of possible sources of error in shear-cell type experiments. A comparison was also made with work carried out while using magnetic fields to control convection. The overall agreement between the various measurements indicated that the data from the current work could be considered to be bench-marks for future experiments. It was concluded that the shear-cell technique was well-suited to the measurement of solute diffusivities.
