The diffusion of I in single crystals was studied by monitoring the rate of discoloration of samples which had been saturated with I. It was considered that the measured diffusion coefficients (table 243) were related to the existence of color centers which consisted of I2- or I3- complexes. The motion of the centers involved the transport of electron holes between the color centers and neighboring iodide ions.
