The logarithmic singularity of the near-field expansion was obtained, for a straight edge dislocation, by singular asymptotic series expansion of the integrals giving the radiated field from a dislocation loop. The coefficient of the singularity depended linearly upon the instantaneous value of the acceleration, and constituted the leading term of the energy-release rate for a moving dislocation undergoing general motion.
