The interaction of a screw dislocation, or an out-of-plane force, with an anisotropic circular inclusion in an isotropic matrix was studied. Similar problems were solved for an anisotropic circular inclusion in an anisotropic matrix, and for an isotropic circular inclusion in an isotropic matrix. However, the case of an anisotropic circular inclusion in an isotropic matrix had not previously been solved. A newly proposed method, based upon a so-called equivalence theorem, for dealing with a bi-material interface between an anisotropic material bonded to an isotropic material was applied to the above problem.
