The surface self-diffusion behavior of polycrystalline material on a glass substrate was studied by using the surface profile decay method and scanning tunnelling microscopy. The peak to peak surface roughness was measured as a function of annealing time at 170C. It was deduced, after estimating the value of the surface energy at that temperature, that the surface diffusivity was equal to 2.3 x 10-15cm2/s.
