The diffusivity and solubility of implanted Au in the -phase were determined at temperatures of between 823 and 1023K by using Rutherford back-scattering spectrometry. The results showed that the solubility of Au varied from 0.2 to 0.35at%. The diffusion data (table 236) could be described by the expression:
D (m2/s) = 1.9 x 10-5exp[-260(kJ/mol)/RT]
It was considered that these results were typical of a substitutional diffusion mechanism.
