The properties of various fluoride glasses were determined. The results for ZrF4-20NaF-14BaF2-6LaF3-4mol%AlF3 could be described by:

σ (S/cm) = 611 exp[-84.42(kJ/mol)/RT]

It was considered that the conclusions drawn from the results could be regarded as only preliminary, and that further investigations were required in order to confirm the appreciable alkali ion mobility of the glasses.
