The optimum conditions for the synthesis the solid electrolyte were investigated. Samples were prepared by means of repeated grinding, pressing and annealing and the conductivity was measured by using electrochemical techniques. The results (table 264) could be described by an expression of the form:
σT (SK/cm) = 8900 exp[-0.113(eV)/kT]
The conductivities at 25C were equal to 0.5, 0.42 and 0.37S/cm for Cu4RbCl3I2, Cu4RbCl3.1I1.9 and Cu4RbCl3.25I1.75, respectively.
