A new composition for Li+ conducting glass with an ionic conductivity >10−6S/cm was suggested in Li2O–B2O3–V2O5 system. The maximum conductivity was found along the composition lines yLi2O–(95−y)B2O3–5V2O5 (45 ≤ y ≤ 47) and zLi2O–50B2O3–(50−z)V2O5 (45 ≤ z ≤ 48). The conductivity of the binary Li2O–B2O3 glasses with an identical Li2O content was significantly smaller than that of the ternary Li2O–B2O3–V2O5 glasses, which indicated a mixed former effect between B2O3 and V2O5. The improvement in ionic conduction was considered in relation to the change in the glass structure.
