Luminescence, energy transfer and defect creation processes were studied for the Ce3+-doped YAlO3 and LuxY1-xAlO3 (x = 0.3) crystals at 4.2 to 300K under selective photo-excitation in the energy range of 3.5 to 11.5eV. For the first time, defect creation spectra were measured and analyzed. Influence of the charge and ionic radii of co-doping ions on the luminescence and defect creation efficiency was considered.
