The local atomic structure of samples which contained 6at%In was investigated by using X-ray absorption spectroscopy before and after photo-excitation at 80K. After such excitation, the In K-edge spectra changed in both the near-edge and X-ray absorption fine structure regions, revealing a change in local structure. The Cd and Te structural parameters were consistent with the structure of CdTe, and did not change following photo-excitation. In the case of In, only the first-shell contribution was present in the X-ray absorption fine structure; thus indicating the existence of a disordered environment beyond the first shell of neighbours.
