The self-diffusion coefficients of Cs ions in hydrous manganese dioxide were determined radiochemically at different apparent capacities in aqueous and alcoholic solutions. The apparent capacity decreased in the order, n-propanol > methanol, and was determined by both ion–solvent and ion–ion interactions. Self-diffusion coefficients were determined in various media by using Paterson's approximation equation. Also, the effect of adding CsCl to the external aqueous or alcoholic hydroxide solution was studied.
