The diffusion of interstitial C in the -phase was studied by using the dynamic mechanical relaxation method. It was found that the anelastic relaxation time was independent of the amount of C, and it was deduced that the diffusivity of C could be described by:

D (cm2/s) = 0.00661 exp[-80.0(kJ/mol)/RT

at temperatures ranging from 303 to 357K.
