Internal friction measurements in the Hz and kHz range were performed on samples which contained between 45 and 600ppm[at]C. The data were analyzed within the framework of a random cooperative strain interaction model in which C-C interactions were treated by using a mean field approximation. A broadening of the Snoek maxima (due to C-C interactions) was related to a critical temperature which increased with C content. The critical temperature was equal to 78K for a C content of 600ppm[at]. It was found that the activation enthalpy for C diffusion was independent of the C content, and that the diffusion parameters were 1.9 x 10-15s and 0.87eV.
