The chemical diffusion of Cu was studied at 690 to 1050C by means of electron probe microanalysis. The specimens were large-grained polycrystals of γ-Fe and single crystals of α-Fe. The results (table 5) could be described by:

α-Fe:      D (cm2/s) = 3.0 x 102 exp[-67800/RT]

γ-Fe:      D (cm2/s) = 1.9 x 10-1 exp[-65100/RT]

An anomalous decrease in diffusion below the Curie point was observed.
