The surfaces of monocrystalline 20at%Al samples were studied by using Auger electron spectroscopy. The segregation kinetics of Al, as determined at several temperatures, permitted the activation energy of Al in the ferromagnetic state of the alloy to be deduced. By using Crank’s equation, it was found that the diffusion data could be described by:

D (cm2/s) = 5.31 x 10-4 exp[-196.5(kJ/mol)/RT]
