Single crystals which were 5cm in diameter were grown by using the vertical Bridgman method. Encapsulation in a molten salt was necessary in order to ensure good crystal quality. It was noted that twinning, which was observed even after using an encapsulant, was decreased by increasing the axial thermal gradient.
