The pressure dependence of the grain-boundary diffusion of 65Zn in polycrystalline Al was measured in the B-kinetic region at 593K, for pressures ranging from 0 to 1.2GPa (table 40). Upon separating the sub-grain and high-angle grain boundary parts of the penetration plots, it was found that the activation volumes were 0.86 and 0.80 atomic volumes, respectively. The results were consistent with the vacancy mechanism of grain boundary diffusion.
