The diffusivity of nanostructured Cr coatings on Al was calculated by using several methods. The Levine-McCallum and Whipple methods were extended so as to describe diffusion in nanocrystals. A method was used which was based upon changes in the logarithm of the average concentration as a function of the 3/2-power of the penetration depth. LeClaire’s expression was used to calculate the grain-boundary diffusivity. Good agreement between the results which were obtained by using the various methods was observed.
