A study of so-called fast diffusers in Pb-In alloys was carried out. It was found that the addition of In increased the diffusivity of Ag by up to 60 times (table 222), but made the electromigration parameter more negative until it eventually became equal to zero. On the other hand, the diffusivity of Au decreased rapidly upon adding In and indicated a Au-In binding energy of 1.1eV. In the case of Cu, the diffusivity decreased when In was introduced at a low concentration but began to increase when the In content was 7at%. Measurements of the electromigration of Au and Cu indicated that the added In had little effect upon the electromigration parameter.
