It was shown that electrochemical methods could yield reliable data for the solubility and diffusion of H in metals. In the present work, measurements were performed on well-annealed (figure 40) or 47%-deformed foil samples. Marked discrepancies between the results for the annealed and deformed samples occurred at concentrations of less than 200ppm[at]. The difference in behavior was attributed to a reduced H activity which resulted from interaction between the H atoms and dislocations.
