A simple statistical analysis was made of the structures of super-dislocations in compounds which exhibited the yield-strength anomaly. The analysis was based upon the super-kink model of dislocation dynamics, in which it was assumed that a super-dislocation propagated via the lateral motion of super-kinks. The analysis was used to assess the probability that a super-dislocation would be immobile. This probability was found to depend exponentially upon the nominal length of the super-dislocation. The statistical analysis required a knowledge of the global distribution of super-kink lengths in order to obtain quantitative relative immobilization rates. This information was deduced from published experimental work and from previous simulations. The predictions of the analysis appeared to be consistent with the results of simulations.
