A then-new technology was described here for the formation of superconducting films as an alternative to conventional high-temperature and high-pressure synthesis methods. It involved a combination of electrical and chemical forces developed within an electrochemical complexing bath. The growth mechanism of MgB2 films on Ag substrates was revealed. The films synthesized by using this new method were characterized by using energy dispersive X-ray analysis, X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy.
