Pressure–composition H absorption isotherms were obtained for MmNi3.5Al0.5Fe0.5Co0.5-0.5wt%B and MmNi3.5Al0.5Fe0.5Co0.5-25wt%polyaniline in the ranges of 30 to 100C and 0.1 to 40bar using a high pressure Seivert apparatus. The phase structure and microstructure morphologies of as-prepared and ball-milled materials were analysed by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopyrespectively. The effect of particle size, B addition and polyaniline dispersion upon the H absorption kinetics in MmNi3.5Al0.5Fe0.5Co0.5 was studied. The diffusion coefficient and activation energy of dissolved H in MmNi3.5Al0.5Fe0.5Co0.5, MmNi3.5Al0.5Fe0.5Co0.5-0.5wt%B and MmNi3.5Al0.5Fe0.5Co0.5-25wt%polyaniline were obtained from the studies of H absorption kinetics using the first-order rate equation.
