Solutions and first passage times were investigated for anomalous diffusion processes governed by the usual diffusion equation. A space- and time-dependent diffusion coefficient was considered, plus the presence of absorbing boundaries. Analytical results were obtained for the probability distribution and the first passage time distribution for finite and semi-infinite intervals. In addition, the results for the first passage time distribution were compared with that obtained by the usual diffusion equation with a constant diffusion coefficient.
