The role of vicinal twin boundaries in tensile deformation of nanocrystalline materials was investigated using molecular dynamics. Lattice dislocations were emitted from the intersection of the step structures with general grain boundaries, resulting in significant dislocation activity. The results were analyzed in terms of the mechanical properties of twin-dominated structures.
