Deformation twins and stacking faults were observed in nanocrystalline Ni, for the first time under uniaxial tensile test conditions. These partial dislocation-mediated deformation mechanisms were enhanced at cryogenic test temperatures. The observations emphasized the effects of deformation conditions, and especially temperature, upon deformation mechanisms in nanograins.
