The processes via which deformation spreads through a lamellar TiAl alloy were investigated by means of in situ tensile experiments performed at room temperature in a transmission electron microscope. Several situations were analyzed in which dislocations crossed interfaces and a2 lamellae. Conditions under which strain transfer could be elastically transferred across sufficiently thin a2 lamellae were considered.
