A new approach to the interpretation of edge facets was presented. The orientations and dislocation structures of the edge facets of α-precipitates in a β-matrix in this alloy were investigated by using a near-coincidence-site model, combined with an analysis of Moiré planes based upon O-lattice theory. The distribution of near-coincidence-site clusters exhibited 2 orders of modulated periodicities, which could be defined by the approximate intersections between several sets of Moiré planes. Two possible edge facets were suggested, based upon the near-coincidence-site distribution. By using the misfit analysis, dislocation structures in the edge facets were calculated. The calculated orientations and dislocation structures of the edge facets were consistent with experimental observations.
