A theoretical study was made of α/α+β ternary diffusion couples. Using phase fraction-averaged fluxes, a new method was used to treat moving α/α+β boundaries. The simulation results showed that when 2-phase mixtures grew, there was no concentration jump at the α/α+β boundaries. However, when 2-phase mixtures dissolved, there was a composition discontinuity at the α/α+β boundaries. These results were consistent with previous results where only diffusion in the matrix phase had been considered.
