The dynamics of adsorbed molecules within the bulk-mediated surface diffusion framework were analyzed. It was assumed that the particle's desorption mechanism was characterized by a non-Markovian process, while the particle's motion in the bulk was governed by Markovian dynamics. Also included was the effect of a Markovian absorption probability on the surface. This system was studied for the diffusion of particles in a semi-infinite lattice; analyzing the return probability to the reference absorptive plane as well as the mean return time to such a surface. Comparisons with numerical simulations revealed excellent agreement.
