A robust numerical method for the implementation of a continuum dislocation-based model of length-scale dependent plasticity was presented. The model was naturally embedded within a continuum-mechanics framework which permitted the application of mechanical boundary conditions. The size effect was due to the bowing of continuously distributed dislocations.
