A new concept of the possibility of thermo-activated blocking of super-dislocations in the absence of external stresses was suggested. A factor that was related to the internal structure of a super-dislocation and initiates its blocking due to the creation of a certain effective force was revealed. Irrespective of the way in which the rearrangement of the super-dislocation occurred and of the fine details of the barrier structure, the role of the above factor was determining. Conditions were formulated under which the formation of barriers became possible without loading after a preliminary deformation while their destruction became impossible. Based upon an analysis of slip on the cubic system, factors were clarified that were responsible for the ambiguousness of the attempts of restoring the energy of antiphase boundaries from the width of super-dislocations in some cases. The mechanisms of dislocation blocking in intermetallic compounds and semiconductors were compared.
