The in-diffusion of Hg was characterized by the time-dependence of the n-type skin depth in Hg-saturated as-grown p-type crystals. Two plots of the diffusion data were compared: log-log and square-root of time. It was concluded that even small deviations from the ideal (square-root of time) diffusion law could be detected in the former plot, whereas the latter plot could still indicate an apparently ideal behaviour.
