Thin-layer deposition, serial sectioning and radiotracer techniques were used to study the simultaneous diffusion of 115Cd and 203Hg into single crystals at 20C in the presence of γ-irradiation to a total dose of about 108rad. It was found that the diffusivity of Hg was 3 x 10-13cm2/s. It was estimated that, in the absence of irradiation, this diffusivity would have corresponded to a temperatures of about 250C.
