The effect of interdiffusion upon the properties of superlattices in the semiconducting regime was studied by using a multi-band envelope function approach. It was found that interdiffusion widened the band gap, and created transition layers between the 2 semiconducting layers. The latter led to the disappearance of localization near to the interfaces.
