Infra-red absorption studies were made of the localized vibrational modes of Li-doped material. It was found that the presence of Li atoms produced 4 modes which were attributed to LiCd-Lii nearest-neighbour pairs in which the principal symmetry axis was aligned in a [111] direction. It was suggested that high Li concentrations caused the formation of a second phase; suggested to be Li2Te.
