Infra-red absorption studies were made of samples which contained Al, Ga or In (added during growth), and 6Li or 7Li isotopes introduced by diffusion. Bands which were observed between 250 and 350/cm were explained in terms of the localized modes of 2 types of defect. These were isolated Li, which occurred as an interstitial species, and MCd-VCd-Lii complexes, where M was Al, Ga or Li.
