An electron paramagnetic resonance study was made of the atomistic and electronic structures of the Te vacancy. The resolved isotropic hyperfine interaction with the 4 nearest Cd neighbors, the isotropic g-value of 2.000, and the long spin-lattice relaxation time conclusively identified the F center. By using photo-electron paramagnetic resonance methods, 2 threshold energies were deduced for the recharging of VTe. An electron ionization transition, from the neutral to the positive charge state at 1.4eV, determined the energy level at Ev + 0.2eV. It acted as a single donor in CdTe.
