A composite of O-permeable oxide ionic conductor phase, Ce0.75Nd0.25O1.875, and oxide electronic conductor phase, Nd1.8Ce0.2CuO4, was prepared by using the acetate pyrolysis method. Based upon electrical conductivity measurements, the total electrical conductivity of Ce0.75Nd0.25O1.875–25mol%Nd1.8Ce0.2CuO4 composite material was found to be governed by the electronic conduction paths. With regard to O permeation, the results showed that the O permeation properties were inexplicable by using a simple composite rule based upon the electrical transport properties of bulk Ce0.75Nd0.25O1.875 and bulk Nd1.8Ce0.2CuO4.
