A straight dislocation located in a 3-dimensional icosahedral quasicrystal was studied, and a solution which took account of phonon–phason coupling was obtained. The phonon–phonon, phason–phason and phonon–phason interactions were revealed. A comparison was made between the present solution, and other approximate solutions including the classic solution for crystals, which showed that the coupling effect was significant.
