It was recalled that a lot of work had been done on describing the role of ½<111>-type screw dislocations, under certain deformation conditions, in body-centered cubic crystals. However, the mechanism which provided such a ½<111> screw dislocation source was less clear. By describing the interaction of 3 mobile ½<111> non-screw dislocations at the intersection of the {110} and {112} zone planes, a mechanism was suggested here for the formation of ½<111> screw dislocations in the body-centered cubic lattice.
