On the basis of available thermodynamic parameters and experimental data on tracer diffusivity, intrinsic diffusivity and chemical diffusivity in the Cu–Ni binary system, the atomic mobilities of Cu and Ni in face-centred cubic Cu–Ni alloys were assessed as a function of temperature and composition. Comparisons of the calculated and measured diffusion coefficients showed that most of the experimental information could be reproduced satisfactorily. The mobility parameters which were obtained could also predict reasonably well the concentration profiles of the diffusion zone in binary Cu–Ni diffusion couples.
