The interdiffusion in Ti-rich β-phase Ti-Al-V alloys was investigated at 1323 to 1473K. The direct interdiffusion coefficients, DAlAlTi and DVVTi, and indirect interdiffusion coefficients, DAlVTi and DVAlTi, were positive in the ternary alloys (table 16). These 4 interdiffusion coefficients exhibited a slight concentration dependence. The values of DAlAlTi were larger than those of DVVTi, and the values of DAlVTi were also larger than those of DVAlTi. Repulsive interactions existed between Al and V atoms in the Ti-Al-V alloys, because the ratios of the indirect coefficients to the direct ones were positive. On the other hand, the interactions between Ti (solvent) and Al (or V) atoms were attractive in the present alloy since the ratio of the converted interdiffusion coefficients in the ternary alloys exhibited negative values.
