A review was presented of the methods and techniques which had been developed in order to simulate dislocation dynamics at the mesoscopic scale. Attention was paid to acceleration techniques and to the implementation of special boundary conditions. Typical results concerning the deformation of bulk crystals, the effect of image forces and the use of finite-element techniques to simulate indentation were described.
