A straight dislocation in a three-dimensional icosahedral quasicrystal was studied. A solution considering phonon–phason coupling was observed; the phonon–phonon, phason–phason and phonon–phason interactions were revealed, in which a comparison between the present solution and other approximate solutions including the classic solution for crystals was given, and showed that the coupling effect was significant.
