By using the generalized Eshelby method for a straight dislocation line in a quasicrystal, analytical expressions for the elastic displacement fields which were induced by dislocations in decagonal, octagonal and dodecagonal quasicrystals were derived for the case where the dislocation lines were parallel to a symmetry axis. In addition to dislocation lines in dodecagonal quasicrystals, analytical expressions were also derived for the displacement fields of dislocation lines which lay in the basal plane of octagonal and decagonal quasicrystals. It was concluded that the generalized Eshelby method was sometimes complementary to the generalized Green’s function method for reducing the analytical expressions for the displacement fields that were produced by straight dislocations in quasicrystals. Thus, analytical expressions for dislocation lines lying in the quasi-periodic planes of octagonal and decagonal quasicrystals were deduced here by using a generalized Eshelby method, but had not been obtained by using the generalized Green’s function method.
