An exact solution was presented for the screw dislocation in the gauge theory of defects. All of the field quantities were globally defined and bounded, and the solution was found to agree with the classical solution, for the screw dislocation, in the far field. The components of the engineering stress tensor and the distortion I-forms were also defined throughout the dislocation core region. They were bounded throughout the dislocation core, and vanished on the axis of symmetry of the screw dislocation. The present results were in exact agreement with those previously obtained by analyzing screw dislocations within the non-local theory of continuous media.
